Monday Night Raw

Three new qualifiers for Money in the Bank on Raw, Rousey shockingly gets title opportunity

The biggest news coming out of Monday's WWE action occurred far away from the ring as Ronda Rousey will get a title opportunity, but in London, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins stole the show once again.

The question of when former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would get her shot at gold in WWE was answered on Monday at the NBC Universal upfronts. At an event that also featured Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax challenged Rousey to a Raw women's championship match at Money in the Bank, which Rousey accepted. The Money in the Bank pay-per-view takes place on June 17 in Chicago. In her lone televised match to date, Rousey impressed alongside Kurt Angle in a win over a Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34.

Raw moves forward with an eye on Money in the Bank

With the briefcase hanging high above the ring it's clear that the WWE has entered Money in the Bank season.

Ember Moon, Ruby Riott and Sasha Banks wrapped up an eventful first hour of Monday Night Raw with a collectively impressive triple threat MITB qualifier. Moon ultimately walked out with the win as the first women's Money in the Bank match qualifier, but all three proved they deserve to be in that match.

WWE Backlash recaps and ratings: Reigns tops Samoa Joe in main event, all champions retain

A lackluster pay-per-view event didn't do much to advance many storylines, as all champions retained their gold and Roman Reigns topped Samoa Joe in the main event.

In spite of a Bayley-Sasha Banks storyline that continues to go off the rails, Ruby Riott and Bayley impressed during their WWE Backlash Kickoff show match. Riott ultimately picked up another big victory and some more momentum, while showing off more of her expansive offensive repertoire.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

The second night of New Japan Pro Wrestling's annual Dontaku show was eventful, to say the least. Kazuchika Okada continued making history with his 12th consecutive successful IWGP heavyweight championship defense, against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Post-match, Okada challenged Kenny Omega to a fourth, deciding match in their ongoing rivalry. Their championship rematch will be a 2-out-of-3 falls, no time limit match at Dominion on June 9. Earlier in the night, Chris Jericho returned to attack Tetsuya Naito and Taiji Ishimori joined Bullet Club, with the rest of the group outside of Omega and Cody appearing to settle all differences.
