Overview
The New York Giants selected Hakeem Nicks with the 29th overall selection in the 2009 NFL Draft.

In the 2008 season, the Giants finished 12-4 in the regular season, finishing in first place in the NFC East. The Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional playoffs.

Prior to selecting Nicks, the Giants had selected a defensive player with each of their last three first-round selections, including 2008, when they selected Miami safety Kenny Phillips.

- The Giants acquired the 13th pick in the 2nd round (45th overall) and the 15th pick in the 5th round (151st overall) from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for Jeremy Shockey on July 21, 2008.

- The Giants acquired the 21st pick in the 3rd round (85th overall) from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the 27th pick in the 3rd round (91st overall) and the 28th pick in the 5th round (164th overall) on April 26, 2009.

    Crabtree Not Far Behind Heyward-Bey

    There were six wide receivers drafted in the first round in 2009. Obviously, Michael Crabtree is the last one to sign, but he's not too far behind Darrius Heyward-Bey -- the only WR selected before him -- in terms of total production.

    So what should Lions fans expect from Matthew Stafford? Well not much the first year. The last five quarterbacks taken No. 1 overall have not done much in their first season, each throwing more interceptions than touchdowns, with the exception of Carson Palmer who held a clipboard his entire rookie year.
