Overview
J.D. Folsom is linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, who selected him with the 214th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Folsom, who attended Weber State, is listed at 6-feet, 3-inches tall and 230 pounds.
Prep Career
Folsom played quarterback and linebacker at Salmon High School in Salmon, ID. He was also a national qualifier in calf roping.
Junior College Career
Folsom began his college football career at Snow Junior College in 2003, then served a two-year Mormon Mission. He returned to the school in 2006, and finished the season wtih 69.5 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and three quarterback sacks. He was a second-team Junior College All-America selection and transfered to Weber State after the season.
Weber State Career
Folsom joined Weber State in 2007 and finished his first season with the school with 73 total tackles. He recorded at least 10 tackles in a game four times in the 2007 season. Folsom earned first-team All-Big Sky honors as a senior, recording 76 total tackles.
NFL Career
Folsom was selected in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Before the 2009 season, Folsom signed a four-year contract with Miami.

Folsom was waived by the Dolphins on Sept. 5, 2009, but re-signed to the practice squad two days later. He was promoted to the active roster on Jan. 2, 2010 and made his NFL debut in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
