Overview
Kevin T. Akins is a former linebacker at Boston College. After playing four seasons for the Eagles, Akins was eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Akins is 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 224 pounds.
Prep Career
Akins was an all-state running back and all-area defensive back at North Penn High School in Towamencin Township, PA. He ran for 2,064 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior. Akins chose Boston College over Connecticut and Virginia.
College Career
During his 2004 redshirt season, Akins was converted to linebacker, where he played all four seasons at Boston College. He made one start in each of his first two seasons, leading the Eagles in sacks with 7.5 in 2006. Akins was a regular starter in 2007 and 2008. Akins finished his Boston College career with 132 total tackles and 15.5 sacks. He played in four bowl games in his career, winning three of them.
