Overview
Marquez Branson is a former tight end at Central Arkansas, where he was a two-time All-Southland Conference selection. After playing two seasons on the junior college level and two seasons at Central Arkansas, Branson was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. After the draft, Branson agreed to a free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos. Branson is 6-foot, 3-inches tall and weighs 248 pounds.
Prep Career
At Starkville High School in Starkville MS, Branson caught 60 passes for six touchdowns.
Junior College Career
After high school, Branson enrolled at East Mississippi Community College, where he played for two seasons. He caught 37 passes for 376 yards and three touchdowns in two junior college seasons. Despite being limited to six games of action in 2006, he was chose to play in the 2006 Mississippi JUCO All-Star Game.
Central Arkansas Career
After community college, Branson transferred to Central Arkansas, where he led the team in receptions and touchdown catches in his first season. He was a second team All-Southland Conference selection as a junior. In his senior season, he caught a career and team-high 11 touchdowns, and finished second on the team with 45 receptions and 737 yards. He was a first team All-Southland Conference Selection. Branson finished his college football career with 119 receptions for 1,612 yards and 21 touchdowns at two levels. He was a first team FCS All-America selection as a senior.
Pro Career
Marquez Branson went undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, but signed a free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos. He was cut by the team prior to the 2009 NFL season, and is currently a member of the Broncos practice squad.
