Ryan Mouton is a defensive back for the Tennessee Titans, who selected him with the 94th overall pick in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Mouton played defensive back and wide receiver at Hawaii. Mouton is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.
Prep Career
Mouton was recruited by a handful of Big 12 schools coming out of Katy High School in Katy, TX. He caught the game-winning touchdown in the Class 5A Division II state championship, ending a 31-game win streak held by Katy's opponent, Carroll High. Mouton earned all-state honors in his senior season. However, he failed to qualify academically for most of the schools that recruited him.
Junior College
Mouton landed at Blinn College, a junior college in Brenham, TX. His best season at Blinn came as a sophomore in 2006. Mouton had five interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, and also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He was a first team NJCAA All-America selection and led Blinn to a national championship. Rivals.com ranked him as a four-star JUCO recruit, and he originally committed to Utah before deciding to sign with Hawaii.
Junior Year
As a junior at Hawaii, Mouton had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also averaged 29.6 yards per return as a kickoff returner with one touchdown, ranking fifth in the nation in kick return average.
Senior Year
Mouton was a first team all-WAC selection on defense as a senior, finishing the season with 43 total tackles and eight pass breakups. He returned his only interception 91 yards for a touchdown against New Mexico State, and also had a kickoff return touchdown against Fresno State. Mouton also saw time at wide receiver in 2008, catching eight passes for 71 yards in a two-game span. After the 2008 season, Mouton was invited to participate in the 2009 East-West Shrine Game, where he had two total tackles and one pass breakup in a losing effort for the West team.
NFL Career
Mouton was selected in the third round (94th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Before the 2009 season, Mouton signed a four-year contract with Tennessee.
