Overview
Stephen Hodge is a safety for the Dallas Cowboys, who selected him with the 197th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Hodge played four seasons at TCU, where he was a two-time All-Mountain West selection. Hodge is 6-feet tall and weighs 230 pounds.
Prep Career
At Tatum High School in Tatum, TX, Hodge was a quarterback and defensive back who led his team to 28 wins in 38 starts. In three seasons, he threw for more than 4,500 yards and 48 touchdowns while rushing for more than 4,000 yards and 51 touchdowns. Hodge chose TCU after also considering Baylor, Houston, Missouri and Texas A&M.
Freshman Year
In 2005, Hodge made 15 total tackles in 12 games as a true freshman. He played primarily on special teams but also saw action as a reserve defensive back.
Sophomore Year
Hodge continued in the same role in 2006, recording 30 total tackles, including nine in one game against San Diego State.
Arrest
In April of 2007, Hodge was arrested along with teammate Robert Henson for unlawful carrying of a weapon. Police said Henson had a handgun, which he handed to Hodge, who fired several shots into the air. The case was eventually dismissed, and Hodge did not miss any time on the field.
Junior Year
Late in his junior season, Hodge moved into the starting lineup and earned second-team All-Mountain West honors. He recorded 8.0 sacks, the most in the nation among defensive backs and second on the team. He finished the season with 57 total tackles (10.5 for loss) and seven pass breakups.
Senior Year
Hodge was an every-game starter for the first time as a senior, finishing the season with 81 total tackles (10.0 for loss) and 3.0 sacks. He helped TCU finish second in the nation in scoring defense and beat previously unbeaten Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl. Hodge was one of four TCU players to earn first team All-Mountain West honors in 2008. After the 2008 season, Hodge was selected to participate in the 2009 Texas vs The Nation All-Star Classic. He recorded a game-high nine total tackles (1.0 for loss) in a losing effort for the Texas team.
NFL Career
Stephen Hodge was selected in the sixth round (197th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Before the 2009 season, Hodge signed a four-year contract with Dallas.

Hodge struggled to recover from offseason knee surgery during his first preseason with the Cowboys, and was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 5, 2009.
