Overview
Aaron Brown is a running back for the Detroit Lions, who selected him with the 192nd pick in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Brown played four seasons at TCU. Brown is 6-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 196 pounds.
Prep Career
From Katy, Texas, Brown played just one game his senior season at Mayde Creek High School. He ran a 10.45 in the 100-meter dash in high school.
Freshman Year
Brown was the MWC Freshman of the Year and an honorable mention All-American as a true freshman. He rushed for 758 yards, all coming in the final 10 games of the season. (He had 0 carries in TCU's first two games.) He ranked 12th nationally among true freshmen in rushing yards.
Sophomore Year
In 2006, Brown was named second-team All-MWC, rushing for a career-best 801 yards, which was third in the MWC and his 5.2 yards per carry was best in the conference. He led the team with 10 total touchdowns and finished second in receptions (34) and receiving yards (455). He averaged 116.8 all-purpose yards per game, which was third in the conference.
Junior Year
Brown was the MWC Preseason Player of the Year, but was hampered by injuries all season. He still finished his junior season with 490 rushing yards and was fourth on the team with 24 receptions.
Senior Year
As a senior, Brown was an honorable-mention All-Mountain West Conference selection as a return specialist and finished fifth in the nation with 29.2 kickoff return average. Brown led TCU with 1,208 all-purpose yards despite sitting out the opening three games due to a violation of university policy. Brown returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown against Wyoming for TCU's first kick return for a score since 2005.
NFL Career
Brown was selected in the sixth round (192nd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Before the 2009 season, Brown signed a contract with Detroit. Terms were not disclosed.
