Overview
Marko Mitchell is a wide receiver for the Washington Redskins, who drafted him with the 243rd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Mitchell attended the University of Nevada, where he played for three years after transferring from Mesa (Arizona) Community College. Mitchell is 6-feet, 3-inches tall, and weighs 210 pounds.
Prep and Junior College Careeer
Mitchell played high school football and basketball at Sumter County High School in York, Alabama. He had 34 catches and eight touchdowns in his lone season at Mesa State.
Nevada Career
Mitchell made seven starts as a sophomore and had a catch in 12 of 13 games. He had 39 receptions and four touchdowns. As a junior, Mitchell had a significant increase in production, with 53 catches, including eight touchdowns. His 21.3 yards per catch ranked second nationally and he had a streak of five straight games with a touchdown catch. As a senior, Mitchell became the sixth player in school history with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He finished with 61 receptions, including 10 for touchdowns. Mitchell finished his collegiate career with 2,763 career receiving yards and 22 touchdowns, both of which rank in the top eight in school history.
NFL Career
Mitchell was selected in the seventh round (243rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. Before the 2009 season, Mitchell signed a contract with the Redskins. Terms were not disclosed.
