Overview

Prep Career
Adkins was one of the top defensive players in the state coming out of Naples High School in Naples, FL. He recorded 11 sacks as a senior, following a junior season in which he recorded 12 sacks. Despite not playing organized football until high school, Adkins emerged as the No. 7 outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2005, according to rivals.com. He signed with Miami (FL), choosing the Hurricanes over in-state rivals Florida and Florida State.
College Career
Adkins played as a reserve and on special teams in his first two seasons at Miami, not making a start for the Hurricanes until 2007. Adkins didn't start in any of his 11 appearances as a senior, but still recorded 6.0 tackles for loss in 2008, ranking 5th among Hurricanes players.
NFL Career
Adkins was selected in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. Before the 2009 season, Adkins signed a contract with Atlanta. Terms were not disclosed.
