Overview
Cedric Peerman is a running back for the Detroit Lions. Peerman was previously with the Baltimore Ravens, who selected him with the 185th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Peerman played for four seasons at the University of Virginia. Peerman is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 208 pounds.
Prep Career
Peerman had a record-setting career as a four-year starter at William Campbell High School in Naruna, VA. He rushed for 5,078 yards, added 787 yards receiving and scored 112 touchdowns. As a senior, he earned state Player of the Year honors, rushing for 2,016 yards and 43 touchdowns. Rivals.com ranked Peerman as the No. 21 running back in the class of 2004. He committed to Virginia prior to his senior season, choosing the Cavaliers over Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina and NC State.
Freshman Year
After redshirting the 2004 season, Peerman saw action as a reserve running back and kick returner in 2005. He rushed for 237 yards and led Virginia by averaging 25.8 yards per kickoff return. His 793 all-purpose yards led the team.
Sophomore Year
He remained in a reserve role in 2006, rushing for 153 yards while improving his kickoff return average to 27.3 yards, tied for third-best in the ACC.
Junior
Peerman was leading the ACC in rushing through the first five games of the 2007 season, but he suffered a foot injury against Middle Tennessee, forcing him to undergo season-ending surgery. He finished the season with a career-high 585 yards and five touchdowns. Peerman's average of 97.5 rushing yards per game would have ranked second in the ACC if he'd played enough games to qualify.
Senior Year
Peerman returned from his foot injury in time to play the 2008 season. He finished his senior year with 774 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, both team highs. He also had 44 receptions to lead all ACC running backs. He was an honorable mention All-ACC selection. After the 2008 season, Peerman was selected to participate in the 2009 Senior Bowl. He led the North with 34 yards rushing on five attempts, but also lost a fumble late in the game.
NFL Career
Peerman was selected in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens cut Peerman prior to the 2009 season, but he was acquired from waivers by the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns waived Peerman on Sept. 26, 2009, but added him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers. They waived him again a month later, and he signed with the Detroit Lions.
