Overview
Travis Bright is guard on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys, who signed him as an undrafted free agent. Bright played college football at BYU, where he was an All-Mountain West selection. Bright is 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs 313 pounds.
Prep Career
Bright was a three-year letterwinner at Highland High School in Gilbert, AZ. He was recruited by Arizona, Colorado State, Utah, Nebraska, California, Arizona State and Oregon, but chose BYU, which allowed him to defer admission so he could go on a two-year Mormon mission.
College Career
After returning from his Church mission in Detroit, Bright sat out the 2004 season as a redshirt. He also missed all of the 2005 season after suffering a leg injury in fall practice. Despite the slow start, Bright played three seasons of college football, starting 36 games for the Cougars at both right and left guard. He suffered a broken leg in the 2007 Las Vegas Bowl against UCLA, but recovered in time to start all 13 games as a senior. In his final season with BYU, Bright was a team captain and earned second team All-MWC honors.
Professional Career
Bright was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys. He was waived on Sept. 5, 2009, but re-signed to the practice squad one day later.
Personal
Bright is married to Alison Ashby, who gave birth to their son Bode Glenn Bright in March of 2008.
