Overview
Michael Bennett Jr. is a defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. He previously played for the Seattle Seahawks. Bennett played four seasons of college football at Texas A&M. Bennett is 6-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 261 pounds.
Prep Career
Bennett played high school football at Taylor High School in Alief, TX. He originally signed a letter of intent with Louisiana Tech, but didn't enroll at the school. He was released from his commitment, and signed with Texas A&M in December of 2004.
College Career
In four seasons at Texas A&M, Bennett played 47 games. He missed one game as a senior, against Kansas State, due to a violation of team rules. He finished his career with 139 total tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection as a junior.
Personal
Bennett's younger brother, Martellus, was his teammate at Texas A&M from 2005-2007. Martellus Bennett was selected in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft and is currently a reserve tight end with the Dallas Cowboys.
NFL Career
Bennett was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a free-agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks and earned a roster spot during training camp. Bennett was waived by Seattle on Oct. 10, but claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He made his Bucs debut in a Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
