Overview
Gerald Cadogan is a former offensive tackle at Penn State University, where he played four seasons. After exhausting his eligibility with the Nittany Lions, Cadogan was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft but went undrafted. Cadogan is 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs 314 pounds.
Prep Career
A native of Portsmouth, OH, Cadogan was a four-sport star at Portsmouth HS. He lettered in football, track and field, swimming and basketball (one season). He was a first-team Associated Press all-state selection in his senior season, recording 94 "pancake blocks". The Youngstown Vindicator twice selected Cadogan all-conference. He was also an Ohio finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman, was the Portsmouth Daily Times Sportsman-of-the-Year and the Ohio News Network Student-Athlete-of-the-Week. Cadogan served as captain of the football and swimming teams and was the swim team's MVP as a junior. He played in the 2004 Big 33 Classic and the Ohio North-South All-Star game.
Freshman Year
As a redshirt freshman, Cadogan worked his way to No. 2 on the depth chart as a sophomore and played against Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois. He was on the field for 41 snaps, including 32 in the win at Illinois. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Sophomore Year
In 2006, Gerald Cadogan played in 11 games and was on the field for 384 snaps, with a season-high 82 at Minnesota.
Junior Year
In 2007 Cadogan started all 13 games at left tackle. He was selected honorable-mention All-Big Ten by the coaches and media. Cadogan also earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors, becoming Penn State's 36th such honoree under Joe Paterno. He also was selected Academic All-District for the second time and Academic All-Big Ten for the third consecutive year. Cadogan helped Penn State average 400.1 yards per game -- 193.8 rushing and 206.3 passing -- and 5.5 yards per play. Cadogan was on the field for 998 snaps, tied for second-highest on the team and among offensive players. He earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the fall semester.
Senior Year
As a senior, Cadogan started all 13 games and was voted first team All-Big Ten by the coaches and the media. He helped Penn State win the Big Ten title and reach the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1994. After the 2008 season Cadogan was invivted to participate in the 2009 Texas vs The Nation All-Star Classic.
Professional Career
Cadogan was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers, but was released on Aug. 30, 2009.

Later in the 2009 season, Cadogan spent a week on the practice squad of the Cincinnati Bengals.
