Prep Career
Norris was beset by injuries during his career at Jesuit High School in Portland, OR. His senior season was cut short by a broken leg, limiting him to five games of action. Scout.com still ranked him as the No. 116 linebacker prospect in the class of 2004 and he chose to walk on at Oregon State, which had offered him a scholarship at one point, but pulled the offer when he broke his leg.
College Career
Norris earned three letters at Oregon State, bouncing around the football field. Norris began his Oregon State career as a safety, before moving to linebacker, then situational end rusher. Early in his career, he was placed on academic probation and was in danger of getting kicked out of school. However, he improved his academics and his performance on the football field, and earned a scholarship after two seasons. Norris's best season came as a senior, when he started in a hybrid end/linebacker role and led Oregon State with 18.5 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. His 19 career sacks rank 4th in Oregon State history.
