Overview
Jason Boltus is a quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Boltus played college football at Hartwick College, where he was the 2007 winner of the Melberger Award as the outstanding player in Division III. After playing four years for Hartwick, Boltus was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. Boltus is 6-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 220 pounds.
Prep Career
Boltus was not recruited by major schools out of Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY. Playing primarily in a rushing offense, Boltus threw for 2,200 yards and 31 touchdowns in his high school career.
College Career
At Hartwick, Boltus stepped into the starting job right away, earning Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 2005. He was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008. Boltus finished his career at Hartwick with 13,276 passing yards and 134 touchdowns, both easily school records. His 14,231 total yards set a Division III record, and he ranks in the Top 10 in all divisions in passing yards, total yards and passing touchdowns.
NFL Draft Prep
After his senior season, Boltus was invited to participate in the Texas vs The Nation All-Star Classic. He was also the only Division III quarterback invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.
Professional Career
Boltus was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but was not selected. Following the draft, he signed a free agent contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He is currently on the team's injured list.
