Glover Freeman Quin Jr. is a cornerback for the Houston Texans, who selected him with the 112th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Quin attended New Mexico, where he played for three seasons after transferring from Southwest Mississippi Community College. Quin is 6-feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. His first name is pronounced GLOW-ver.
Quin was a four-year letterman in both football and basketball at North Pike High School in Summitt, MS. He finished his high school career with more than 2,500 rushing yards, 224 total tackles and 13 interceptions, and was a team MVP in both football and basketball as a senior.
Quin began his college career at Southwest Mississippi Community College. After breaking his arm in the second game of the 2004 season, he returned healthy for 2005, finishing the season with 40 total tackles, eight pass breakups and two interceptions.
Quin enrolled at New Mexico in January of 2006, and was immediately slotted in as a starter. He led the Mountain West Conference with 12 pass breakups in 13 starts, and finished third on the team with 63 total tackles, earning honorable mention All-MWC honors.
Quin suffered a groin injury in the summer of 2007 but tried to play through it for the first two games of the season. However, he had to undergo surgery shortly after the game against New Mexico State to relieve pain and swelling, forcing him to miss the next two games. He returned to finish with eight pass breakups, good for second on the team. In 10 games played, Quin didn't allow a single touchdown, earning honorable mention All-WAC honors for the second straight year.
As a senior, Quin became the first New Mexico DB since Brian Urlacher to be voted team MVP. He led the MWC with a career-high five interceptions and 16 passes defended. His 4.5 tackles for loss were the most ever by a New Mexico cornerback, and he finished the season with 53 total tackles, earning first team All-MWC honors. After the 2008 season, Quin was invited to participate in the 2009 East-West Shrine Game, where he had three total tackles in a losing effort for the West team.
Quin was selected in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. Before the 2009 season, Quin signed a four-year/$2.24M contract with Houston.
