Overview
Morgan Tyler Trent is a cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals, who selected him with the 179th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Trent played four years with the Michigan Wolverines. Trent is 6-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 188 pounds.
Prep Career
As a wide receiver at St. Mary's Prep in Orchard Lake, MI, Trent caught 84 passes for 1,533 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also set a school record with 23 career interceptions. Trent, who was rated the No. 3 player in the state Michigan by Rivals.com, committed to Michigan prior to his senior season.
Freshman Year
Trent spent his 2004 redshirt season working out as a wide receiver, but was converted to defensive back full time in the spring of 2005. As a redshirt freshman, Trent started five times in 11 games, recording 22 total tackles and six pass breakups. His only interception of the season came against Eastern Michigan.
Sophomore Year
Trent was the regular starter at right cornerback in 2006, taking over the position one game into the season. He finished the season with 45 total tackles, good for fourth on the team, and recorded a team-high eight tackles in the Rose Bowl against USC.
Junior Year
As a junior, Trent earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors, ranking second among Wolverines in interceptions (two) and pass breakups (10).
Senior Year
Trent led Michigan with three interceptions as a senior. After the 2008 season, Trent was invited to participate in the 2009 East-West Shrine Game. He had an interception for the winning East squad in that game, earning him a late invite to the 2009 Senior Bowl.
NFL Career
Trent was selected in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Before the 2009 season, Trent signed a four-year/$1.862M contract with Cincinnati.
