Overview
Darry Beckwith is a linebacker on the practice squad of the San Diego Chargers. Beckwith joined the Chargers as an undrafted free agent after playing college football at LSU.
Prep Career
At Parkview Baptist High School (LA) Beckwith was voted the Louisiana Class 3A Defensive MVP as a senior in 2004. During his senior year, Beckwith made 135 tackles, including 20 for losses, and six sacks.
Freshman Year
In 2005, Beckwith was one of only two true freshmen to play for LSU. He played in every game, primarily on special teams and as a backup linebacker.
Sophomore Year
As a sophomore in 2006 Beckwith moved into the starting lineup and played both outside and middle linebacker for the Tigers. Beckwith missed his first career game with a knee injury against Alabama.
Junior Year
During LSU's 2007 National Championship season Beckwith started every game for the Tigers at middle linebacker. He ranked sixth on the team with 65 tackles and was named by the coaches to the to the All-SEC second team. Beckwith also recorded his second career interception in the SEC Championship Game against Tennessee.
Senior Year
As a senior Beckwith remained LSU's starting middle linebacker. He missed two games early in the season with a knee injury. Beckwith was named to the AP All-SEC second team.
Professional Career
Beckwith was eligible to be selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, but went undrafted. He signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers. After being waived at the end of the preseason, Beckwith was re-signed to the team's practice squad.
