Mike Thomas is a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him with the 107th pick in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Thomas played four seasons for Arizona, where he was a three-time All-Pac-10 selection. Thomas is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 195 pounds.
Prep Career
At DeSoto High School in DeSoto, TX, Thomas's production was limited in a run-oriented offense. He still had 15 receptions for 205 yards while also rushing for 333 yards on 26 attempts as a senior. Thomas earned an invitation to the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, and Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 54 wide receiver recruit in the class of 2005. He committed to Arizona before his senior season, choosing the Wildcats over Georgia Tech, Kansas, Notre Dame and Texas Tech.
Freshman Year
Thomas caught 52 passes for 771 yards and five touchdowns as a true freshman in 2005, sharing Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Awards with Oregon State guard Jeremy Perry. His 52 receptions set a record for an Arizona freshman.
Sophomore Year
As a sophomore, Thomas had 50 receptions for 597 yards and two touchdowns while starting 10 times in 12 games. He had at least one reception in every game in 2006, earning honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors.
Junior Year
Thomas moved up to first team All-Pac-10 in 2007, leading the conference with 83 receptions. He had 1,038 receiving yards, becoming the fifth player in Arizona history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in a single season. Thomas also set an Arizona record with 11 touchdown receptions. He had 12 receptions against both Cal and USC, tying for the second-best single-game performance in Arizona history.
Senior Year
Thomas saw increased attention from defenses in 2008, but still had a conference-leading 74 receptions for 826 yards. He became Arizona's all-time leader in career receptions with 259, and repeated as a first team All-Pac-10 selection. Thomas also served as a punter returner for the first time in 2008, leading the Pac-10 with an average of 13.5 yard per return and two touchdowns. Thomas's 3,231 receiving yards were behind only Bobby Wade and Dennis Northcut in school history. After the 2008 season, Thomas was invited to participate in the 2009 East-West Shrine Game, where he had five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort for the West team. He parlayed that performance into an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he had one reception for 32 yards.
NFL Career
Thomas was selected in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before the 2009 season, Thomas signed a four-year contract with Jacksonville.
